Millsy’s Miles for Macmillan
Mustang Group is proud to announce that one of its Banana Wharf staff members, Phil Mills, will be running in the upcoming Manchester Marathon on Sunday 16th April in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Macmillan Cancer Support is a charity that provides practical, emotional, and financial support to people affected by cancer.
Every year, they help millions of people across the UK who are living with cancer, providing them with vital support and information when they need it most.
Phil has been training for months in preparation for the marathon and is committed to completing the gruelling 26.2 mile course to raise funds for this important cause. He has set himself a fundraising target of £500 and is calling on colleagues, friends, family members and Banana Wharf customers to help him reach his goal.
Phil tells us why running has become a huge passion of his,
“Over the last few years I have become more and more interested in health, fitness and well-being. So much so that I have recently started studying to become a Personal Trainer. I have always enjoyed a bit of cycling, but I started running more in 2019 when I took part in my first parkrun, which I now love and attend whenever possible”

Speaking about his decision to run for Macmillan Cancer Support, Phil said, “I’ve seen first-hand the incredible work that Macmillan does to support people affected by cancer, and having lost two people that meant so much to me to their own battles with the disease last year, I wanted to do something to help. Running a marathon is a huge challenge, but I know that every step I take will be making a real difference to people’s lives.”
Phil will be wearing a Macmillan Cancer Support vest during the race and is hoping to raise awareness of the charity’s work among the thousands of spectators who will be cheering on the runners on the day.
Mustang Group is fully supportive of Phil’s fundraising efforts and will be hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning at Banana Wharf Universal on Friday 31st March from 9am until 11.30am to show its support for the cause.
There will also be a raffle on the day whereby customers can be in with the chance of winning some great prizes whilst enjoying our freshly made cakes and traybakes with their tea and coffee.
